Self Catering Cottage on Exmoor
Putham (reputedly Anglo-Saxon for ‘home of the Kites’) is less than a mile from Wheddon Cross. The barn has spectacular views to Dunkery Beacon and on clear days across the sea to Wales. A garden room is attached to the barn from which you may not see Kites, but the chances of seeing Buzzards and Deer are high! There is excellent walking straight from Putham. The Coleridge Way passes about half a mile away.
The large variety of places to visit, caters for all interests and ages; Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon and the moor. Lanacre, Porlock Weir, the medieval village of Dunster with its castle (NT), Minehead where the steam railway trains stop and Dulverton. Sailing and fishing are available at Wimbleball and there are trekking and riding stables. Woolacombe with its beautiful beach and surf is about an hour’s drive. Lynton and Lynmouth are nearer. Snowdrop Valley is a winter attraction and is within walking distance.
It is a 20 minute walk to Wheddon Cross which has a thriving pub and a well-stocked shop. Food is also available in nearby villages.
The cottage has a mezzanine floor which is a bedroom. Below is the main room, kitchen and bathroom with underfloor heating.
In main room there is an imitation gas wood burner to give a cosy atmosphere.
A sofa double bed provides additional sleeping accommodation.
Outside there is a fenced paddock for children and/or dogs (the latter by arrangement) and the area in front of the barn is a suntrap.
Ample parking is yards away.
